I love that feeling.
You know the one. No, not that one, the other one. When you finally hit upon an idea that “just might work”. Granted, it usually takes a bit of time to get there, but when it does hit, it feels pretty good. It reminds you that all hope isn’t lost and the creative well hasn’t completely dried up. There is a fun rush of excitement and a reinforcement to the idea that maybe, just maybe, I know what I’m doing.
Since this is the About section, I should probably introduce myself. My name is Patrick Crispo and I live and work in the Chicago area where I have been a graphic artist for over twenty-five years. Like most artists my age, I grew up on a steady diet of comic books, science-fiction, fantasy and Saturday morning cartoons.
While my first degree is a BFA in Illustration from Northern Illinois University, I have another in Computer Graphics. However I’ve found that the education you receive from working with others is far more valuable. Being a part of a team, bouncing ideas off of one another, sharing tips and tricks, produces some of the best work. Plus it is nice to have people to joke and laugh with.
My work encompasses many areas of design. Trade show graphics, catalogs, product photography, logos. Primarily I work on a Mac using the Adobe suite of software. My years of experience have given me a lot of knowledge, but there is always more to learn.
